BRANDON HANIK
Founder and Visionary of American Skilled Trade Services
Brandon is the founder and driving force behind American Skilled Trade Services, a company built on a foundation of dedication, craftsmanship, and family values. Brandon’s journey began over a decade ago, working alongside his grandfather, Jim Hanik in the paver restoration business, “Paver Restoration Experts” The Hanik family has been a part of the Allen Park, MI community since 1960.
During Brandon’s journey with “Paver Restoration Experts” he honed his skills in cleaning, sanding, and sealing pavers, serving Oakland and Macomb counties with excellence.
Driven by a passion for his work, Brandon quickly mastered these skills and began his own side business, all while working full-time. He expanded his expertise to include the installation of pavers for patios, walkways, and customized steps. When his grandfather retired, Brandon took the leap and transformed his side gig into a full-fledged company—American Skilled Trade Services.
In the early days, Brandon’s determination was evident as he worked tirelessly, often using a rented U-Haul truck to serve his first customers. His unwavering commitment to quality and integrity quickly earned him respect and trust within the community. Just two years later, he acquired his first work truck and officially registered the business, making it his full-time endeavor.
Brandon’s vision for American Skilled Trade Services extends far beyond paver installation. He dreamed of creating a true one-stop shop for all skilled trades. Today, his company offers a wide range of services, including hardscaping, landscaping, interior design & maintenance, restoration, piping, and even basement cleanouts after floods. Under Brandon’s leadership, NO JOB IS TOO BIG OR TOO SMALL.
For Brandon, American Skilled Trade Services is more than just a business; it’s a labor of love. He’s committed to creating a family-friendly environment where the needs and ideas of his team members are valued and integrated. All the while, he remains dedicated to supporting his family and nurturing his friendships, all the while ensuring that his company reflects the same care and commitment he brings to every aspect of his life.
BRITNEY FERGUSON
C.O.O & Sales Manager of American Skilled Trade Services
Britney grew up in Allen Park, MI, where she first met Brandon during high school. Their paths eventually crossed again, and from that moment on, they’ve been inseparable. Britney fully supported Brandon from the start, even rolling up her sleeves to help him with one of his very first "pull and reset" projects when American Skilled Trade Services was just beginning. Since then, Britney has been an integral part of the ASTS journey, playing a key role in its growth and success.
Britney quickly became his indispensable right-hand woman. Just as God created woman from man's rib, Britney embodies the true meaning of a supportive partner. She has been the glue holding everything together, helping Brandon withstand the pressures of starting and running a business. When challenges arose, she was the one who kept everything intact, reminding Brandon of the vision that inspired him to start the company and encouraging him to keep pushing forward.
Britney quickly assumed the role of managing behind-the-scenes logistics and maintaining the office work, all while being an unwavering partner both personally and professionally. She now handles customer relations, project mapping, and design.
As the Sales Manager, she excels in providing top-notch, custom design plans tailored to each client’s needs and vision. After meeting with you to understand your goals, Britney meticulously crafts a plan that perfectly fits your vision, ensuring every detail is brought to life.

Alicia Messer
Alicia is Brandon's sister and has been a part of American Skilled Trade Services from the very beginning. She first joined Brandon during his early days, helping out on the same "pull and reset" project where she, Brandon, and Britney worked together to pull up and stack the pavers. A few years later, Alicia recalled the pride she felt in re-creating something beautiful and decided to accept Brandon's offer to officially join ASTS. She began in 2018, spending about three years in the field as part of the crew constructing various projects. Eventually, Alicia was promoted to the office, where she teamed up with Britney to handle customer relations, marketing, digital design, and all other essential office tasks.

David Varner
Foreman of American Skilled Trade Services
David, Brandon's cousin, joined American Skilled Trade Services two years ago with minimal experience in the paver installation industry. Through hard work, determination, and close mentorship from Brandon, he quickly mastered the craft and began adding his own distinctive touch to each project.
Today, David serves as our Foreman, upholding the legacy of transforming visions into reality. He is also dedicated to mentoring other team members, ensuring that every aspect of our work is executed with respect, integrity, and exceptional quality.
